Beef Ampalaya

This beef ampalaya recipe will be done in no time with just a handful of ingredients. The bitter vegetable is an excellent source of iron, calcium, vitamin B and phosphorus. Beef Ampalaya

Serves: 2-3 Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 piece medium deseeded ampalaya (bitter melon), cut into 2 and sliced ¼ inch
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1/4 kilo beef sirloin
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 5 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions

Place ampalaya slices in a bowl with 1 tablespoon salt, cover with water. Leave for 10 minutes and drain.

Sauté ampalaya in 1 tablespoon oil until cooked. Set aside.

Sauté garlic in 2 tablepoons oil until golden.

Add beef and cook quickly until just brown on all sides.

Add oyster sauce and mix in ampalaya.

Season with salt and pepper.

Notes

Leaving ampalaya in water lessens the bitterness of the vegetable.
